We had a very special guest this week, Lisa Daly, who is a member of the Irish Tug of War team. Lisa showed us all of her equipment, her medals, and gave a wonderful demonstration in Tug of War. The boys in 1st class really enjoyed having a go, and some boys even took their first steps towards becoming a Tug of War referee! The magic words are ‘Ready’, ‘Lift the Rope’, ‘Take the Strain’ and ‘Pull!!!!’ Thank you Lisa! For more information go to www.irishtugofwar.com
Our class had an amazing day of learning. We went to Valeo where we learned all about cameras for cars and driverless cars. I wouldn’t be surprised if they inspired a few scientists or engineers in the class today. A huge thank you to Dan McCormack, who’s son is in our class and who invited us to visit Valeo today. Inspirational stuff, looking where the future is going!!
The children had great fun today making rockets. The rockets were made in pairs and then launched outside. The children really enjoyed the whole experience.
Some fantastic science experiments going on in Rang a Dó last week. We made rainbow spinners and connected them to an electric circuit to make them spin. We used baking soda and vinegar to make Carbon Dioxide and inflated a balloon by mixing them in a bottle together. We had fun investigating magnets and we also investigated mixing colors using skittles and water. There are super scientists in rang a dó.
