During October a man called Aidan came into our school to talk to us about History. 1916 & World War 2 He told us that his uncle was involved in 1916. He was shot and the bullet went through his belt. His family still has the belt and he showed us it. Aidan showed us chocolate bars from 1916. He also showed pictures from the war of damaged buildings. Aidan also told us about World War 2 and Adolf Hitler. By Liam
On Friday 5th of October, 6th class went to the Cuan Beo Interactive Envrionmental Exhibition in Clarinbridge. We learned about our local rivers and how to protect them. We were split into two groups, Mussels and Oysters. We visited the following exhibits : Wave Action display, Galway Atlantaquaria, Marine Institute, Connemara boat builder, InfoMar, Coastwatch. We also tasted seaweed and seaweed crackers at the Wild Kitchen exhibition. We signed a “Charter to the Envrionment” to promise to keep our shores and ocean clean and completed an activity sheet and quiz. By Ben and Niall
First class were very busy before the Christmas holidays. We had our trip to the cinema to see Ralph Wrecks the Internet, we made some festive finger food, had a visit from Santa, we enjoyed a Chess play-off with Mr. Mullin's class and we even received a letter as Gaeilge from Daidí na Nollag! We well and truly deserved the break!
Congratulations to James Costello who defeated his brother Conor in the final of the 5th class Christmas Draughts Competition. This knock out competition saw all 30 boys compete for the top prize. After a few tough qualifying rounds the Costelllo twins made their way to the final which was a tense affair. In the end James prevailed using a very clever move to fianlly see off Conor. Well done boys!
4th Class were investigating the Bridges of the world. Tower Bridges, Cable Bridges And Suspended Bridges. The boys each researched a different bridge and reported back to the group. Then we drew our own suspension bridges and created our own Tower Bridge. There are many fascinating Bridges out there but the boys were very curious as to if London Bridge actually fell down!

We have been learning about procedure texts in English: how to write instructions on how to make or do something. We had a fruity Friday last week when we made fruit kebabs and wrote instructions on how to make them! Delicious!
