First class have enjoyed learning about Australia. We think it is really cool that when it is daytime in Ireland, it is nighttime in Australia. Australian animals are very interesting. Koala's are our favourite. We saw the the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Uluru, The Twelve Apostles and Great Barrier Reef on Google Maps. We enjoyed making our fantastic coral reef art.
First class are enjoying Data in Maths this week. Football, skating, swimming and cycling were surveyed. We also went on a walk around Oranmore looking for STEM in our area. We spotted machinery, electricity pylons, road safety and directions signs as well as signs of spring. We loved the daffodils.
First class are keeping fit and healthy during Wellbeing Week with Dare to Believe Olympic Movement Breaks. For our Active School Flag challenge this term, an Irish Olympian who will compete in the Paris Olympics this summer teaches us skills in their sport. Loads of fun.
The wonderful boys in first class are having a busy month. Rugby lessons, Maths games, Anti Bullying Week, Catholic Schools Week, learning about zoo animals and checking out the Dublin Zoo Webcam, Winter Art and learning about speed reactions in Active Schools Movement Break Games from Olympian Sarah Lavin.

Our Grow in Love theme this month is Mass. Thank you to Fr Diarmuid for welcoming us to the church, taking the time to explain the important statues, vestments and altar gifts. We spoke about Lent and we loved hearing about the history of the church in Oranmore too.

First class celebrated St Brigids Day by listening to stories from author Caroline Busher. We wrote about St Brigid's cloak and we learned about the meaning of the St Brigids Cross. A granny of one of the students made a special St Brigids Cross for our classroom.
