A lovely and enthusiastic author and illustrator came to the school today to have a chat with the boys. Alan Nolan wrote many books and illustrated his own work. He gave a short workshop on drawing Dracula, which is a character in one of his new upcoming books. The boys really enjoyed it and we're captivated by his enthusiasm.
We were very lucky to have a wonderful learning experience in the ARC today. The Aquaculture Remote Classroom (ARC) is a mobile classroom which has been designed to raise young people’s awareness of aquaculture. Bord Iascaigh Mhara has developed the ARC as part of a European wide campaign called #FarmedintheEU. We explored Aquaculture; Geographic and Environmental influences; Socio-economic factors; Nutritional Health and finished off with the big ARC Quiz. Lots of fun and learning in the ARC today!
Both 5th classes enjoyed a trip to Traught beach in Kinvara this morning. We are exploring the theme of connecting and caring for our environment in school and a beach trip was a perfect way to support our learning. We were very lucky with the weather and the rain held off until just as we were about to return to Oranmore. The boys identified the different creatures and sea life on the beach, observed a variety of rocks and shells and even dipped their toes into the water. Lots of learning and fun was had today!
