Maths Week

We had great fun in First Class during Maths Week. We played Maths games on i-pads, played card games, made cool shapes out of tangrams and did active maths. For homework during Maths week, we logged onto www.mangahigh.com.

Australia

This week we learnt about Australia “the land down under”. The boys created fantastic projects which featured Australia’s landmarks, wildlife and native people.

Maths Week & Library

This week was jam packed with maths activities that the boys loved. Using geoboards to understand multiplication better, ag imirt cluiche cartaí -"Té ag iascaracht" and online maths homework was a great hit. We also fit in a trip to the library, where we chose our own books to read for DEAR time. Reading is so important, and books the boys are interested in are a great resource to have. Love of reading is wonderful to have📚. Click on the photo to see more..

Maths Week

This week the boys are really enjoying Maths Week. We are doing our homework on a website called Mangahigh and everyday in class we are doing tricky Maths problems. We also made impressive 2D shape monsters yesterday and did Maths stations with Ms Cormican today. We played pattern games online, dice games, card games and did tangrams.

4th Class History Tour to Portumna Workhouse and Castle

Today 4th Class went to visit the Portumna Workhouse, built after the Famine but during a time of extreme hardship in Ireland. We visited the Workhouse where families were split up into men, women, boys and girls possibly never to see each other again. We saw where the laundry, coal bunkers, the silent eating hall where they were given only picking to eat all were. The people were desperate and had no choice but to go there. Such a sad time in Ireland 😢 We fit in a flying visit to Portumna Castle too and into the Forest Park to identify leaves from various trees. 🍁🌿
