We loved welcoming Ms. Ní Chártaigh’s First Class into our room to have our first Chess Jamboree just before Christmas. All the boys really enjoyed the event and putting our new chess skills into play.
Don’t believe us? Check out our smiles below. We really enjoyed our trip to the Oranmore IMC cinema today. We had a lovely walk from the school and the wonderful Gardai made us feel like celebraties by giving us a Garda escort all the way. To top it all off, we each got to know the wonderful boys in Sixth Class who walked with us making sure we were all kept safe! Thank you to them, the Gardai and the wonderful staff at our school who organized this lovely day out! Even the rain on the way home couldn’t dampen our spirits!
We really enjoyed learning about all the different ways children around the world celebrate Christmas while we prepared for our Christmas show. We all now know how Christmas is celebrated in Poland, Malawi, China, America, Australia and of course, here in Ireland. All of these countries have their own special Christmas traditions. Performing our Christmas show gave all of us here in First Class a great sense of pride! We learned all our lines, prepared lovely costumes and sang our hearts out. Thank you to everyone who helped us prepare for the show, especially our loving parents who helped us practice our lines every night, as well as Ms. Ní Chártaigh and Anne who were there on the night to help with music and costumes.
The boys in First Class were delighted to welcome a surprise visitor to the Parent Association’s recent Bake Sale. Santa heard everyone’s Christmas wish and then joined us on stage as the children sang ‘Tá an Nollaig Buailte Linn’. Daidí na Nollaig was so impressed with the boys singing and their good behavior all year, that he even left some early Christmas presents for the class to enjoy. Thank you Santa! We look forward to your next visit!

We are so lucky to be able to work with our Artist in Residence, Ann, for the next 7 weeks. The boys are looking forward to building up their Art Portfolios and learning new skills.
