We recently received a visit from Aoife of Dogs Trust Ireland. Aoife reminded us of all the things we need to consider before getting a dog. The boys really enjoyed the workshop but were very surprised to learn that there were so many dogs seeking new homes in Ireland. The boys also learned how not to stay safe around dogs and to always ask a dog owners permission before approaching their dog. Thank you Aoife.
We were delighted to recently welcome children’s author John Quinn to Scoil Iósaif Naofa. John spoke to the boys about the importance of tapping into our imaginations and using descriptive words when writing our stories! John even read an excerpt from his most recent books. Thank you John.
We were super excited to begin work with our Artist in Residence, Ann O’Byrne, who will be showing us some new techniques over the coming weeks (starting Feb.1st). The boys have already made their first installments in their new Artist Journals and will be adding to them over the coming weeks.
We loved having our Grandparents come to visit our school this week. It was really special to be able to show them our school and our classrooms and we really enjoyed performing for all our guests. Thank you to all the grandparents who made it in and for answering our questions. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.
We had two very special guests this week. Will Softly and Guzzler from SEAI (that’s the Sustainable Energy Association of Ireland), came to talk to us about all the different ways of saving energy and about Energy Chains. Did you know, that we get our energy from the sun? It’s called solar power! Will has also kindly invited us to visit him in Brigit’s Garden.

The boys are working closely with our Artist in Residence and the boys in Ms. Ní Chártaigh’s First Class to create a piece of art our school. Work began in earnest back on the 15th February last! Here’s a sneak preview!
