T-Bags

Well done to Mr. Fitzgerald and the boys of 5th Class who had their recent Junior Entrepreneurs Showcase day in school. Upcycling old t-shirts to make reuseable shopping bags is a wonderful idea and we in First Class wish you the all the best of luck. The boys loved that their T-Bags!

Day out at the Theatre

The boys of First Class paid a really enjoyable visit to Galway’s Town Hall Theatre today. We took in Branar’s wonderful show, ‘Woolly’s Quest’. The boys were delighted by the wonderful story telling on display, a fantastic set and the huge variety of unusual musical instruments used to tell the story of Woolly, the world’s bravest sheep. We hope to visit again soon.

Food Dudes

We’ve recently began Food Dudes here in First Class. The boys are enjoying trying new fruit and vegetables everyday, and ‘Keeping the life force strong!’ The boys haven’t objected to the cool rewards either! We have had so many success stories already with boys discovering that they really like most, if not all (YET), the fruits and vegetables they’ve tried so far. I’m sure all boys will be packing a portion of fruit and vegetables in their lunch everyday from now on.

Maths Update!

The boys have been learning about length recently and recently undertook a ‘Metre Hunt’ in the classroom with their metres of string. They’re looking forward to bringing them home and continuing the hunt! Last week we also had our first Maths Games Friday where the boys use game based learning to practice and fine tune their maths skills.

Seachtaine na Gaeilge

The boys have really enjoyed learning traditional Irish dancing. Thank you to our SNA, Ann, and Support Teacher, Ms. Mulcahy, for helping us master the Siege of Ennis. Go raibh míle maith agaibh! We rocked the céilí! We also enjoyed the Lá Glas and Ms. Mulcahy’s Tráth na gCeist.

Amor Vincit Omnia - Our School Motto

Translation: Love Conquers All Our school art project is complete! The boys from both First Classes were delighted with the end product! What do you think? You can see it for yourself hanging outside the reception next time you visit the school! While Ann was in, she showed us how to use candles and paint to create art! Our Art Journals are filling up nicely!
