During Maths week, the boys participated in a timetables competition against a number of other schools across the country. Over the course of the week, 4th class answered over 122,000 correct answers for their timestables online and, subsequently, won the competition. A special congratulations goes to Patrick who won the 3rd most valuable player in the competition. All of the boys displayed a great deal of resilience, teamwork and determination to win the tournament and we are very proud of them!
International Space Week was a blast! To mark the end of Space Week, 5th Class launched a water rocket from the astroturf. To launch the water rocket, we had to fill a regular 2L water bottle with 250ml of water. We then pumped the rocket with air until it couldn't withstand the pressure any longer. The rocket launched off into the air and the water gushed out! It was so much fun!
Congratulations to Kasper who has been top of the Timestables Rockstars leaderboard for the past few weeks. The boys have been using this resource, both at home and in school, to learn their times tables in a fun way. Not only does it test their mental maths skills but also the speed at which they can answer the questions. Well done Kasper!
Recently, we have been learning about the place value of larger numbers. We availed of the good weather this week and the boys did some fun maths activities linked to their prior learning. We discussed the importance of the value of each digit and the relationship between each place value column. They had lots of fun!
