Virtual Reality

Our school is extremely fortunate to have been selected to participate in a fabulous pilot project called 'Virtually Here' as part the immersive classroom project Galway 2020. 5th Class will be working with the Visual Artist JoJo Hynes to create virtual reality worlds. Jojo visited our classroom on Friday last week and led the class through different virtual reality worlds including a trip to China, a Diwali festival and even a flight through the sky from a birds eye view. Jojo will visit our classroom several times between now and June. Throughout the weeks the boys will begin to create their own virtual worlds with the use of a 360 degree camera. They are extremely excited to share their projects with other schools through the use of a conferencing tool on a Webex board provided by Cisco. Many thanks to Ms Mc Laughlin who applied for the project on the schools behalf and to the PDST for providing all the amazing equipment we will use in the coming weeks.

Engineers Week

Engineers week got off to a great start today. 3/4th and 4th classes came together to learn about the different disciplines of engineering. The boys also viewed an exciting film called “Dream Big” which looks at engineering projects around the world.

Pancake Tuesday 🥞

A delicious way to recap on procedural writing! We made the pancake batter in the morning and left it to settle. Then we cooked the pancakes and of course had to sample our produce. They were delicious 😋
