The boys had great fun this morning looking for some 3d shapes around the school.
Mythical Creature Artwork Workshop By Conor & James
All the boys have been working diligently online over the last number of weeks. A nice break from their literacy, numeracy and Gaeilge was the occurrence of Engineering Week from 1st-5th of March. From the creation of indestructible structures with the aid of life-sized recyclable materials, to a serene lego construction was the excellent range of creative models that were created. The boys enjoyed using their creative minds to use the Design and Make skills processes of exploring, planning, evaluating and making their impressive structures.
After learning about the properties of 3D shapes in Maths, the boys constructed robots made from 3D materials they found around their house. The materials they used included: CDs, cupcake holders, buttons, lights, Lego and even steel. Their creations are so impressive and the boys enjoyed sharing them on our video calls.
The boys learned all about 2D shapes in a variety of ways during the month of December. They went on a 2D shape hunt, used Geo boards on the I Pads, designed some Artwork masterpieces and created lots of 2D shapes using matchsticks and blue tac. Lots of learning and lots of fun!
As part of the An Post initiative to combat loneliness in elderly people, 4th class decided to write letters to 5 different nursing homes in Galway. The boys wrote about their hobbies, what they are learning about in school, their usual Christmas traditions and how they will be celebrating Christmas this year. We hope that their letters will be appreciated and of some comfort for elderly people in these difficult times. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí!
