We had a great week building and designing parachutes. We also made our own mazes using a variety of materials. We hope to finish our mazes and test how quickly we can get a marble around each maze.
Today the boys learnt how engineers design and construct buildings to withstand an earthquake by building their own model structures using toothpicks and marshmallows. They experiment to see how earthquake proof their buildings are by testing them in an earthquake simulated in a tray of jelly.
We are very interested in Science and Engineering in our class. We worked hard designing and constructing paper planes. There were a lot of planes flying around our seomra ranga at the end of the lesson!!! After our Aviation design challenge, we also used directional language to move robots from Start to Finish, we had to figure out if the robot needed to move forward, turn 1/4 to the left or a 1/4 to the right.

4th class working on the engineering skills. Creating 3D shapes using marshmallows and spaghetti. The boys were creative and determined in making their structures. Well done boys!
Padraic from the explorers programme came in to chat to us today about various living things that we might find at the beach. We are looking forward to our trip to Salthill beach over the coming weeks as part of this explorers programme.
Today the boys listened to a talk on road safety. The boys learnt about keeping safe when cycling, travelling in a car and the safe cross code.
