Welcome to our school website. We hope it gives you an insight into the life of our school. Scoil Iósaif Naofa is a welcoming, happy school, where we all work together for the benefit of the pupils who attend here. As a staff, developing an open, positive relationship with both pupils and parents is our priority. We value and look after the needs of every child and strive to make sure that all of our pupils enjoy their time here. We recognise that learning is a lifelong process, and believe that the foundation we lay with children today, will help them to ensure their place as global citizens in communities around the world tomorrow.
On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February, the Engineers Ireland STEPS Programme will host two-days of online pre-recorded engineering shows and live workshops led by Explorium, Scientific Sue and Silly Billy. The Reptile Zoo, Science Made Simple and Rediscovery Centre will also offer workshops and learning experiences throughout the weekend. More info and booking: https://bit.ly/2Z70Dww
After learning about the properties of 3D shapes in Maths, the boys constructed robots made from 3D materials they found around their house. The materials they used included: CDs, cupcake holders, buttons, lights, Lego and even steel. Their creations are so impressive and the boys enjoyed sharing them on our video calls.
The boys learned all about 2D shapes in a variety of ways during the month of December. They went on a 2D shape hunt, used Geo boards on the I Pads, designed some Artwork masterpieces and created lots of 2D shapes using matchsticks and blue tac. Lots of learning and lots of fun!
Congratulations to Koshi Tamara (third class) who wrote a story during lockdown. Koshi’s story has been published in the Lighthouse Storybook. 19 children from all over Ireland were selected out of 1500 entries. Well done Koshi.
